Main definition of MEDIA:
A generic term for a system of production and disssemination of information and entertainment and of exertion of various kinds of siocial controls. Unlike a channel which is limited to a contiguous physical medium between the sender and a reciever of communications, media include the institutions which determine the nature, programming and form of distribution.
Media (plural of medium) refers to the object on which data can be stored. These inculde hard discs, CD-ROMs, DVDs and so on. Media term, refers also to te form and technology used to communicate information.
NAME "MEDIA"
When media refers to the mass media it is sometimes treated as a singular form. Many people think this use is incorrect and that meida should always be treated as a plural form.
AND WHAT ABOUT MULTIMEDIA?
This term describes a number of diverse technologies that allow visual and audio media to be combined in new ways for purpose of communicating.
Multimedia also often refers to computer technologies and all hi-tech inventions, like interactive television, MP3. MP4 players andvanced wireless devices and so on.
JOURNALISM
Nowadays without journalism people would now know as much as they know. Journalism is so significant for us and our society which is ambitious of information and knowledge. Thanks to journalism we can keep track of events which are taking place all over the world.
The start of journalism was whne press came out. Press was the first medium which aim was to search and show news.
MEDIA INFLUENCE
Media technology nowadays is full-grown. The best Americans technology using sattellites could show us everything. Every event that take place in this minute in every place all over the world. The journalis can be with camera or microphone always first in the place where the important events take place.
He should always be "a man of the right kidney" :)
But we must be awere that journalis work is not only to show and inform, but also to wake up our feelings - fera, sadness or love.
BAD INFLUENCE
A lot of people think that media give us only a chance to be smarter and more independent. They think that thanks to new technology we can do things that we weren't able to do before. Of course it is true, but we must remeber that it's impossible to find in them only good relay!
Nowadays television, Internet, video games are full of violence, indecency and plainless. Almost on every channel we can see programs like "Big Brother" which is/was for shure not on the highest level:) In my opinion media should restrict this type of influence because it might cause damege on humans's ( aspacially children) hierarchy of worth.
Unfortunately there are very little programs connected with culture, literature etc. I think that media should give people chance to be smarter every day, and to improve their knowledge.
MEDIA AS A FOURTH AUTHORITY
What does "fourth authority" mean? It means that media nowadays almost create people consciousness of life and have influence on politics, economy etc. It is well known problem all over the world, but there are also bright side of such state of things - media often protect laws like preedeom of speech or civil liberties.
